Best Free Webhosting ~ Compare Free Web Host Providers

There are so many free web hosting providers out there that finding the best web host or even a good free web host can be quite a challenge. So we are going to do a little of the leg work for you and compare three of the free web hosts we found. Free Web Space, Free Websites, and Webs (formerly Freewebs).

If you do a Free Web Space review you will find that they provide 100 MB of web space. This is adequate for a personal website and for most small business websites. They also offer a web-based file manager that you can use for making changes to your site. If you are familiar with FTP and want to use it for uploading files, this is also an option. One of the downfalls we see at Free Web Space is that they don’t seem to have a lot in way of hosting customer support. They do ask you to leave feedback about praise or complaints but don’t say much about how they will help resolve any issues you may face.

In reviewing Webs we found that they have a much better support system in place. Even though they don’t offer phone support they have a community based forum that you can browse through current topics or submit your own new topic. They have a staff member working Mon-Friday from 8 AM to 6 PM US Eastern time and have moderators that check in on off hours as well. This is a very user-friendly site for someone new to web hosting that doesn’t know anything about FTP of scripts or any other web design skills. Choose from over 300 free website templates then use their simple editor to make desired changes and have your site online in a matter of minutes.

Our Free Websites review found them to be quite a bit different from either of the other two free hosts. If you are pretty tech savvy and are really familiar with FTP and don’t need much in way of support then this could be a great option for your free site. Free Websites offers unlimited web space (within reason of course) which would allow you to create a great business or personal site. But you really have to know what you are doing and how to use FTP. If you don’t, this is probably not a good option for you.

Before you make a decision about what web hosting provider to use, you really need a basic idea of what you will need. Once you have that figured out it shouldn’t be too hard to find someone with features that meet those needs. Then make sure you check web host rankings to learn more about how they stack up against the competition.
